HOW DOES CHIROPRACTIC CARE HELP?

Chiropractic works by adjusting specific segments of the spine or extremities. When one of the bones in your back misalign, it causes a disconnection between your brain and other organ systems (like your heart, lungs, kidneys, etc.). This disconnection is what chiropractors call a “subluxation”. By re-aligning the minorly misplaced bone (the subluxation) with a specific adjustment your body is more able to fully communicate and start working how it was built too!

DO CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS HURT?

Chiropractic adjustments generally do not hurt; there is a possibility that you may be sore after being adjusted especially if it is your first time. We highly encourage using an ice pack, taking a walk after your appointment, and drinking extra water to help your adjustment sit in, decrease the chance of being sore, and reduce swelling.

HOW MUCH SCHOOLING DOES A CHIROPRACTOR HAVE?

Doctors of Chiropractic go through a minimum of four years of schooling at a chiropractic college. That is a minimum of at least 4,200 hours with their teacher, and a minimum of 1,000 hours of fully supervised clinical training with an instructor as they learn the appropriate diagnosis and treatment techniques to help heal your body and restore it to a better functioning state.

DOES INSURANCE COVER CHIROPRACTIC VISITS?

Insurance coverage for chiropractic care is dictated by your plan, benefits, and if we are in network with the insurance you have. When it comes to coverage, we have to consider your deductible, coinsurance, and copayments. Most plans will also have a limitation on visits yearly. If you do not have insurance or do not want to use your insurance, we do have very affordable cash plans that are cheaper than most insurance deductibles.

IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE SAFE WHILE I'M PREGNANT?

Chiropractic care is safe for pregnant women! In fact, regular chiropractic care during pregnancy may even help your pregnancy go a little smoother; you will just be taken care of a little differently than other patients to protect you and baby.

IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE SAFE FOR KIDS?

Absolutely! Chiropractic care can actually help kids with birth trauma, colic, constipation, ear infection, headaches, ADHD and more.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO WORK?

There’s not a correct response, everyone's body and response to chiropractic care is different! One of our favorite sayings is chiropractic is not Amazon prime it takes more than two visits to see results. There are several factors that contribute to recovery time such as how long you’ve been experiencing your problem. After your evaluation (first appointment) Dr. Nathan will be able to provide you a suggested care plan. Remember everything takes time especially healing!

ARE ALL PATIENTS ADJUSTED THE SAME WAY?

All patients who see Dr. Nathan will be adjusted manually using the Gonstead technique. This technique uses a hands only approach. Since everyone has different problems, that means everyone has different misalignments so not every patient is going to be adjusted the same way. The spots that will be taken care of are biased on your symptoms, temperature readings, how the spot moves, and your x-rays.

WILL I BE REQUIRED TO REMOVE MY CLOTHING AT MY APPOINTMENT?

Dr. Nathan does the Gonstead technique, part of the technique requires him to see your spine or extremity in order to fix it. Working on something that he cannot see is doing you a disservice. Part of the Gonstead technique uses an instrument called a Nervoscope that detects heat temperature differences along your spine. In order to properly care for you and run the Nervoscope; men will be asked to remove their shirt, and women have a dressing room and will be asked change their shirt and wear a blouse that velcro’s in the back.

I DIDN'T HEAR A SOUND. DOES THAT MEAN THE ADJUSTMENT DIDN'T WORK?

Not at all! It’s typical to hear a “cracking” sound like when you pop your knuckles if you’re not adjusted often or if it’s your first-time experiencing chiropractic care. If you’re a regular patient, it’s common that you’ll not hear any “cracking” sounds as your body has accommodated to being worked on.

CAN I LEARN TO ADJUST MYSELF?

No, it’s not safe to attempt to self-adjust this can cause an injury! Chiropractors are trained on how to perform safe adjustments.
